Dear Commissioner Unger,

Thank you for your leadership on this proposed trail. I too, support the creation of the Black Butte Trail. I believe this new pathway will connect the communities of Sisters Country and provide a new gateway to our National Forest. It would enhance recreational assets in Central Oregon, and it would provide a safer, environmentally sound, and healthier connection among our communities.

I support the pathway for a variety of reasons. It will provide access to our natural environment to those who are not able to make use of our existent miles of dirt and/or gravel trails. I believe it will also be good for our local businesses as visitors come into town to shop and eat. As a business owner in Sisters, I recognize the need to attract a diversity of visitors. This pathway will offer one more reason to visit Sisters. The creation of pathways in other communities has improved property values, community cohesiveness as well as provide health and other quality of life benefits. I look forward to our community reaping those benefits, as well.

Thank you,

Cathryn Hayden
